Meat Didn’t Make the Cut at Obama’s First State Dinner

Okay, so it wasn’t a vegan menu, but it was vegetarian. When the Obamas hosted their first official state dinner last night for the prime minister of India, Manmohan Singh, health and vegetarian fare was gloriously forefront in their minds and on their plates.

  4. I know…it's so significant on so many levels. Are you celebrating Thanksgiving in Saudi Arabia? If so, hope it's happy!

  5. I would say prawns and Passion fruit and vanilla Gelees are not vegetarian at all. Plus a vegan would still have a hard time at that dinner. But it is a start and we must not forget: he pardoned the turkey 🙂

  6. Yes, I noticed the prawns and wondered about that. But there are ways to make vegan gelees using agar-agar. I don't know about you, but as a vegan, I have a hard time being satiated at any dinner unless it is specifically vegan. That's why I prefer to entertain at home!
